Packages

Private Packages supports a wide variety of premium WordPress plugins and themes through specialized recipes. Each recipe handles the specific requirements of different vendors and update systems.

What Are Recipes?

Recipes are integrations that know how to:

  • Communicate with vendor APIs
  • Authenticate using your license keys
  • Check for new versions
  • Download updated files
  • Validate and activate licenses

Standardized Update Systems

Many premium plugins use standardized update systems that Private Packages supports out of the box:

Easy Digital Downloads (EDD)

The EDD recipe works with any plugin that uses the Easy Digital Downloads Software Licensing system. This is one of the most common update systems in the WordPress ecosystem.

Examples of EDD-based plugins:

  • Many independent plugin vendors
  • Plugins from smaller companies
  • Custom-built premium plugins

WooCommerce

The WooCommerce recipe handles plugins and themes that use WooCommerce's update system for their premium extensions.

Plugin Update Checker (PUC)

The PUC recipe supports plugins using the Plugin Update Checker library by YahnisElsts.

Vendor-Specific Recipes

For vendors with proprietary update systems, Private Packages includes custom integrations:

Choosing the Right Recipe

  1. Check the vendor: Find your plugin/theme vendor in the list above
  2. Look for standardized systems: If not listed, check if it uses EDD, WooCommerce, or PUC
  3. Try Direct Download: If you have a static download URL
  4. Use Manual Upload: As a last resort for plugins without automated updates
